Higgins Lake

A few weeks ago we went up to Lauren's family's cottage on Higgins Lake in Michigan. We had a great time - the weather was perfect. Here are a few pictures.

Peter, Kathryn, John and Lauren on rafts:

We had dinner at Spike's Keg o' Nails/Liquor in Grayling - doesn't that sound tasty?

Peter skiing:

My dad's pride and joy:

As you can see, we spent most of our time on the boat, riding around the lake and water skiing. It was hard to come back to the 100-degree weather in Atlanta!

Lot 29

In case any of you are wondering whatever happened to Lot 29 (our original lot), we thought we'd give you an update. Here are some pictures:

Exterior (We think the builder decided to change the exterior colors because that shake is not what we picked out. Unfortunately, the brick is what we picked out and we don't like it! Another reason why we're glad we switched lots!):

Non-existent backyard:

Living room:

Stairs:

It's fun to watch the house go up with all of the stuff that we picked out. Hopefully someone who doesn't care about having a backyard will be very happy there.

One Week Later

We have been in the house for a week now and are starting to feel at home. We made a lot of progress this weekend and things are starting to look much more settled in. One of our biggest challenges is trying to keep our brand new lawn and landscaping alive. Georgia is having a serious drought this summer and we are under very strict watering restrictions. Hopefully it will start raining soon! Here are a few more pictures of the house.

Guest bedroom (ready for someone to visit us!):

Although he chose to stay in a fancy Buckhead hotel instead of staying in our lovely guest suite, we are looking forward to welcoming Uncle Mike to Atlanta this week.
