The hotel was everything we expected - quaint, charming, fantastic service, and a beautiful pool. We arrived on Thursday around noon (thanks to a direct flight from Atlanta), checked into the hotel, and headed out for lunch at BO's Fish Wagon, which was basically a shack known for making the best fish sandwich in Key West. That afternoon we went on a trolley tour of the island so we would be sure we hit all of the sights. Thursday night, we stopped by the sunset celebration in Mallory Square, including the totally creepy Catman and his trained cats. (If you don't believe me about the creepiness, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAx1Zthusn8).
After the sunset, we headed over to Pepe's on my parents' recommendation. Pepe's is the locals' hangout, and is known for making cocktails with fresh-squeezed fruit juice. We had several tasty drinks and ended up staying for dinner.
We had booked a snorkeling and sailing trip for Friday, but the sea was too rough and it was canceled. We were disappointed but thankful to not be stuck on a saildboat in rough seas. Saturday we walked down to the Hemingway House and the Southernmost point, but other than that we spent most of our time by the pool and eating good seafood. Saturday night we had a fabulous dinner at Louie's Backyard, which had beautiful views of the ocean. This morning, we had breakfast at Sarabeth's, our favorite restaurant of the trip, before heading to the airport for our flight home.
