Michigan Vacation

Time flies when you are having fun! Our much-anticipated trip to Michigan was a blast, and we can't believe it is already over. We flew into Grand Rapids and stopped to visit with Lauren's friends Katie, Kristen and Sarah and their families, including the newest addition to the group, Miss Lucy Noelle. We had lunch in Gaslight Village and had a great time catching up. From there, we drove up to Higgins Lake to spend a few days at Cottage Grove. The weather was cool but sunny - exactly what we were hoping for! After a few days at Higgins, we drove over to Suttons Bay to spend the day at Grammy and Grandpa's house before driving back to Grand Rapids and flying back to Atlanta. It was a busy couple of days!

Destination: Up North

I've got my North Face vest and I'm ready to go!

Forecast: highs in the mid 70's, lows in the mid 50's, and sunny. We'll take it!

This weekend we shopped for seasonally appropriate clothes for Northern Michigan, since Elizabeth's wardrobe currently consists exclusively of rompers and sundresses. When we saw the miniature vest, we couldn't resist! We are all excited to see the Gudritzes in just a few days.

Weekend Fun

After a very busy week, we all enjoyed a low key weekend at home. The significant development this weekend was that Elizabeth has, for the most part, transitioned from baby food to table food. Elizabeth's meals this weekend included chicken nuggets, bananas, scrambled eggs, waffles, peaches and a hot dog. She strongly prefers to feed herself and I strongly prefer not to have baby food flung all over the kitchen and me, so it's a win-win situation. Fortunately, she has healthy and somewhat gourmet meals at school during the week so I don't feel too bad about just how many times she had chicken nuggets at home last week.

Here are a few photos of weekend activities.

We played with Dad:

We attempted to get away with crawling onto the hearth while modeling a stylish jean skirt:

We showed the camera our "intense" face:

We worked on our mobility:

We installed this beautiful accessory in our living room:

We looked sad and pathetic when our much beloved path to the stairway was suddenly blocked:

Not pictured: we signed John up for Facebook. With so many cute baby pictures to show off to the world, he really had no choice.

Baby It's Hot Outside....

It's still too hot to spend much time outside, so we spend most of our day playing inside. Luckily, Elizabeth has lots of new toys and a dad who can always make her laugh to keep her entertained. Here are a few photos from this weekend.

Elizabeth's new favorite toy - the music table.

This is about the extent of the natural sunlight that she sees these days:

Big Girl Update: First Steps

It didn't take long for Elizabeth to progress from pulling up to taking her first steps (with some assistance). She is one of only two babies in her class who has hit this milestone, which is impressive considering that she is the youngest in the class. We are so proud!
