Easter Bunny

Easter seems to be one of those holidays that is ten times more fun with a little kid around. The day started with Elizabeth coming downstairs to see what the Easter bunny brought her... and boy, did the Easter bunny go overboard this year! He brought a kitchen set and a water table. What can I say, we overcompensated for Elizabeth being too young for candy.

Later, we headed over to our neighbors' house for a wonderful brunch and Easter egg hunt. Elizabeth proved to be an expert egg-hunter and filled her "basket" (a.k.a. empty Kroger bag) with lots of eggs. After her nap, we went back outside to play with the water table.

Happy Easter!

Look what the Easter bunny brought!

Weekend in Augusta

This was the weekend we were supposed to have gone to Nashville to meet our friends for a mini-Vandy reunion, but the weather had other plans. Our friends have a daughter who is two months younger than Elizabeth, and when we saw a forecast for rain and chilly temperatures, we all agreed that we couldn't think of anything less fun than two bored toddlers stuck in a hotel. So, we made a change in plans and decided to visit our friends at their house in Augusta. The girls had a great time playing together (and by "together," I mean in the same room) and we enjoyed catching up with Mark and Julie.

18 Months Old!

Today was Elizabeth's 18 month appointment with Dr. K and she received an excellent report. Here are the stats:

Weight: 23.5 pounds (25th percentile).
Height: 32 inches (70th percentile).
Shots: just one!
Tantrum rating: on a scale of one (a yelp and a sniffle) to ten (possessed by evil demons), I'd give it a 3, which is perfectly respectable when getting a shot.

Much to my surprise, Dr. K suggested that we introduce the concept of the potty at this age. Although she probably won't be ready for actual potty training until two years old or later, Dr. K said it's a good idea to talk to her about it and let her try it out if she shows interest. I fear potty training more than I feared child birth, so I'm open to all suggestions to make it easier. Looks like we'll by swinging by Target for a training potty one of these days.

Weekend Photos

This weekend felt like summer, with temperatures in the upper 80's and plenty of sunshine. We spent most of our time outside playing and even made a trip to Piedmont Park.

Lions and Tigers and Bears

Elizabeth was very excited to have another visit with Grammy this weekend. When Grammy offered to babysit on Saturday night so John and I could go out, we quickly took her up on her offer, and enjoyed a wonderful night out with friends.

On Sunday, we headed to the zoo. We had not been there since Elizabeth was seven months old, and needless to say, we think she enjoyed herself much more on this trip. Elizabeth was fascinated by all of the animals. Here are a few photos from our outing.

Welcome to Zoo Atlanta!
